We are Jim and Lyn Van Til and we have been living in the country southeast of Grand Rapids, Michigan for most of our adult lives. We raised our three daughters here and are now the proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren. And we cut that wood with Stihl chain saws.
We have always lived "close to the earth." Between vegetable gardening, animal husbandry, home schooling our children, heating with wood and running our own businesses, our lives have been packed full of the simplest and purist pleasures. Heating with the wood that we cut and split was never something we did simply to save money. You get a special satisfaction when you cook with an onion you planted. Likewise, heating with wood that you cut warms parts of you that gas furnaces know nothing about. 
Sharing this life style with others while we try to earn a living is what Cherry Valley Stove & Saw is all about. We are not "salesmen." We took on product lines that we like and believe in. There are many other good saws and stoves out there. We will bend over backwards for our customers partly because that's "who we are." The main reason, however, that we don't serve the "almighty dollar" is that the Almighty God sent His Son to give his life for us when we deserved His judgment. We try to keep that in mind. That means that people are more important than profit. What a relief!
